Week 6: Floating Along

A bit of a “meh” week this week. No news on the gym front, diet is consistent, weight hasn’t changed.

This is going to be another short post, there just isn’t a lot of news this week. The reading was also very straight forward to me; while I do drink, and when I drink I tend to do it excessively, I’ve made that a health goal of mine and have cut down severely. Again, while I drink, I don’t do any other drugs. At all. And I don’t plan on ever doing them. They just aren’t my thing. Like Nancy Reagan immortally said: “Remember kids, say no to drugs.”

That being said, I went to the gym three times this week. I’ve been very tired. My sleep is terrible. For some reason my room is brighter at night than it ever has been. I think it’s the lights from outside on campus. The snow might be amplifying their brightness. That being said, I need to find a way to make it darker; I either need to buy a set of blackout curtains or a sleep mask. I need near total darkness to sleep, and I’m legitimately miserable right now because I’m getting such garbage sleep. I can’t remember the last time I felt refreshed waking up in the morning. Must’ve been at least two weeks ago.

My diet has been largely on-point. When ECC serves green beans or broccoli, I take a separate plate-full and eat it as my vegetable meal portion. I’ve been focusing on eating mainly animal products for the protein as well as the fat-soluble vitamin content they provide. Your micros are just as important as your macros, if not more so, and I have a feeling I’m not getting enough essential vitamins a day. I’m pretty good about taking my One-A-Day supplement, which helps, but nothing substitutes for natural absorption. I only treat myself to ice cream once a week, and only when ECC has the oreo cookie crumbs at the ice cream station. Mint chip ice cream with the oreos at the bottom of the dish is amazing.

Other than that I’m in a solid place right now. Looking to get a lot of schoolwork done over spring break and possibly get ahead on the semester. Also beginning to work on my application to law school. Still processing the fact that I’m graduating in two months. Yikes.
